Best Gold IRA Companies in Los Angeles: A Comparison Guide
Research checked November 3, 2026.
Which are the best gold IRA companies for Los Angeles investors? Start by comparing Limitless Metals, American Hartford Gold, Goldco and Birch Gold Group against the same written quote requirements. There is no verified universal winner: the right fit depends on your account size, product prices, custodian and storage costs, service needs and exit terms. The profiles below separate Los Angeles-area locations from an out-of-state alternative.
Publisher disclosure: This guide is published by Limitless Metals, a precious metals dealer included in the comparison. We have a commercial interest in readers choosing our services. This is not an independent ranking, a complete market survey or a claim that we offer the lowest prices. We have not opened accounts or conducted test transactions with the other companies.
How we compared these gold IRA companies
We reviewed public company information for IRA services, stated purchase minimums and location details, then used IRS and investor-protection guidance to identify questions buyers should ask. Companies appear alphabetically below, not in order of quality. Published minimums are company statements checked on the date above, not binding quotes or IRS contribution limits. Terms can change.
This article focuses on selecting a dealer for an IRA transaction. For ordinary cash purchases and broader local dealer questions, see our Los Angeles gold company guide. An office address does not establish a walk-in showroom, a nearby vault or the availability of in-person IRA appointments. Confirm those details before visiting.
Gold IRA companies to compare in Los Angeles
American Hartford Gold: published Los Angeles office
American Hartford Gold lists an office at 11755 Wilshire Boulevard, 11th Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90025, along with a Woodland Hills location. Its Gold IRA FAQ states a $10,000 minimum IRA order and says storage fees vary with account size and holdings. Sources: official contact page and Gold IRA FAQ.
Useful comparison point: A Los Angeles office and a published IRA minimum make this a candidate for buyers who want to discuss a locally based provider. Before choosing: Ask whether an appointment is available, obtain a line-item metals quote and confirm custodian charges, ongoing storage costs and the conditions of any fee waiver. A local office does not mean your IRA metals will be stored in Los Angeles.
Birch Gold Group: an out-of-state alternative
Birch Gold Group’s current contact page lists its headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa; this guide does not classify it as a Los Angeles office. Its FAQ states a $5,000 minimum for direct purchases and precious metals IRAs, subject to market conditions and availability. It also explains that the independent custodian and depository charge separate fees. Sources: official contact page and company FAQ.
Useful comparison point: Its published minimum is lower than the other quoted minimums in this shortlist. That is an entry requirement, not proof of lower total costs. Before choosing: Confirm that it can handle your California account and intended funding method, then request the complete first-year and ongoing cost schedule for your specific custodian, storage arrangement and metals selection.
Goldco: Los Angeles County listing and published IRA minimum
Goldco offers assistance with opening and funding a precious metals IRA and purchasing metals. Its official Gold IRA page lists a $25,000 IRA minimum, distinct from its direct-purchase minimum. The BBB business profile lists Calabasas, California, in Los Angeles County; that is not the same as an office in the City of Los Angeles. Sources: official Gold IRA page and BBB business profile.
Useful comparison point: Its stated IRA threshold helps buyers decide whether to request a quote. Before choosing: Verify the current office and appointment policy directly, ask for the actual purchase and buyback prices for the same products, and obtain all custodian and depository charges in writing. Marketing about buybacks should be checked against the agreement, including exclusions and pricing conditions.
Limitless Metals: Woodland Hills-based dealer and this guide’s publisher
Limitless Metals serves customers from 21550 Oxnard Street, 3rd Floor, Woodland Hills, CA 91367, and provides physical metals and assistance for customers exploring eligible precious metals IRAs. Its educational guide explains the separate dealer, custodian and depository roles. Sources: local company information and Gold IRA guide.
Useful comparison point: A Woodland Hills contact may be convenient for Los Angeles-area buyers who want to discuss products and the purchasing process. Before choosing: Request the current minimum, a written product quote, the proposed custodian and depository, annual costs and buyback terms. This comparison does not state a verified public IRA minimum or all-in fee for Limitless Metals. Apply the same scrutiny to our quote as to every competing quote.
Compare the price of the metals, not just annual fees
A lower annual fee does not necessarily mean a cheaper transaction. Two dealers may quote different products, quantities or premiums for the same retirement budget. Ask each one to price the same coin or bar, weight, quantity and condition as close to the same time as practical.
Get these figures in writing: The full purchase price; fine-metal weight; spot-price reference and quote time; dealer premium or markup; account-opening and annual custodian fees; storage and insurance charges; shipping or wire costs; and liquidation or account-closing charges. Also ask what the dealer would pay to buy the exact metals back at the time of the quote.
A buyback offer is not a promise to return your purchase price. Promotions and waived fees should be evaluated alongside the product price, eligibility conditions and costs after the promotional period. The CFTC and FINRA precious-metals advisory recommends obtaining costs in writing and comparing the retail price with the underlying metal value and buyback quote.
Check the custodian and storage arrangement separately
A gold IRA generally involves a dealer selling the metals, a custodian administering the account, and a depository providing storage under the custodial arrangement. Ask for the legal name of each provider, the storage location, the custody agreement and how ownership, insurance and withdrawals are documented.
The SEC, NASAA and FINRA self-directed IRA alert warns that custodians generally do not evaluate an investment’s quality or legitimacy. A custodian’s willingness to hold an asset is not an endorsement of the dealer or a guarantee against loss. The IRS maintains a list of approved nonbank trustees and custodians; banks and other custodians require appropriate separate verification.
Understand the IRS rules before moving retirement money
Only qualifying coins and bullion can be held within the applicable precious-metals exceptions to the IRA collectibles rules. Do not assume that every gold product offered by a dealer is IRA-eligible. Have the custodian confirm the exact products before purchase. See the IRS retirement-plan investment FAQ.
The IRS IRA FAQ explains that the exception for certain highly refined bullion requires physical possession by a bank or IRS-approved nonbank trustee, including when an IRA-owned LLC acquires it. Keeping IRA bullion in your own home safe is not a substitute for this requirement. Taking possession or breaking IRA rules can create tax consequences.
Before funding an account, confirm whether you need an IRA transfer, an eligible workplace-plan rollover or a new contribution. The procedures differ. A dealer’s purchase minimum is separate from the annual contribution limit, and a correctly structured transfer or rollover is different from an annual contribution. Ask your plan administrator, custodian and independent tax professional which process applies to you.
Questions Los Angeles buyers ask
Do I need a gold IRA company physically located in Los Angeles?
A local office is a convenience, not an IRS requirement. Prioritize clear pricing, verified custody arrangements and responsive service. An out-of-state dealer may be worth comparing, but confirm California service availability and how documents, funding and support will be handled.
Can I visit my IRA gold at the dealer’s office?
Do not assume so. The dealer’s office and the depository are usually separate locations. Ask the custodian and depository about any inspection or visitation policy; personal possession has different tax implications from an authorized visit.
Which company has the lowest gold IRA fees?
This research does not establish a lowest-cost provider. A fair answer requires current, comparable product quotes plus the actual custodian and storage schedules. A published minimum or temporary fee waiver cannot answer that question on its own.
Are gold IRAs safe or guaranteed?
No investment in physical gold is guaranteed to preserve value or produce a profit. Prices can fall, transaction costs can be substantial, and liquidation may take time. Gold pays no interest or dividends. Discuss concentration risk, liquidity needs and alternatives with an independent professional before committing retirement funds.
Request a comparable quote before deciding
Choose a small shortlist, request the same information from each company and review the documents without sales pressure. If you would like to include Limitless Metals in that comparison, contact our team or call 855-744-3068 to ask about current products, pricing and the IRA purchasing process.
